Nearly complete!

Wow, the last bits and pieces flew together and the cabinet is nearly complete. Hardware wise, at least. Finished wiring up the control panel:

I was grateful for the input connector on the joysticks, it made everything a lot simpler. Everything just barely fits inside the cabinet itself, once I connect the two large USB cables (uncomfortably tight really...)

To do: Clean up random bits of dust, apply artwork, clean up cables, get TV working, and then from there it's all software, I think. Yaaay!

Welcome

The purpose of this website is to log the construction from scratch of an arcade cabinet. This involves sawing wood, screwing it together, mounting a monitor, painting and adding artwork, attaching individual controls (buttons, joysticks, trackballs) for controls, connecting it all to a computer, with configured software, and maybe eventually playing games. Though not necessarily all in that order.

What little experience we have is drawn from our previous project: a "bartop" arcade machine, a smaller single player unit created with raw will rather than skills. We learned a lot (read: made a lot of mistakes) from the project, and hope to apply those lessons this time...
